About Us
Primitiv Farms is a small 10-acre farm set in Millville in Cumberland County, New Jersey.
Breeds currently raised on the farm include:
East Friesian Sheep - dairy breed of sheep raised for milk
Soay Sheep - one of the most primitive breeds of domestic sheep likely dating back to the Stone Age and originating off a Scottish Island. A small and deer-like breed they are also shy, very hardy and shed their wool in the warmer months.
Old English/ Cotton Patch Geese - These breeds make up a landrace that originated from geese Brough over during colonial times. They have a similar color and auto-sexing similar to Pilgrim geese but their beaks and feet are pink rather than orange. Males of these breed are all white and females are Grey or “Pied” a mixture of White and Grey.
White Chinese Geese - White Geese that look like Swans. They lay large white eggs from February to July.
Welsh Harlequin Ducks - Breed based off of the Khaki Campbells. The females are a light beige while the males have the coloration of wild Mallards. They are prolific egg layer and we usually have some of their eggs available.
Mini-Saanen Goats - This mid-sized breed is a cross between a Saanen and a Nigerian Dwarf. The size makes them manageable milkers that provide up to a half gallon of fresh goat milk a day. Pure Mini-Saanen Doelings and Bucklings will be available during spring and summer.
Malay Chickens - A rare and exotic breed. These are one of the most primitive breeds of chicken. Great for any collector but they can be aggressive so both people and other chickens so they are best when kept in separate pens as breeding pairs. Chicks available in spring and summer.
Honeybees - We have a variety of honeybee hives. We hope to start honey and Nucleus Hive sales in Spring of 2021.
